Abstract: Ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) is an advanced type of cement-based materials with promising self-healing potential of the cracks. This paper first summarizes the current self-healing technologies for cement-based materials. Then, it analyzes the kinetic and thermodynamic characteristics of crack self-healing in UHPC. Finally, it discusses the approaches and mechanisms for active modulation of the UHPC self-healing behaviors. Based on the ongoing research progress and challenges in UHPC crack self-healing research, future research perspectives are proposed.
