Abstract: Gelcasting is a new type of forming process, combining traditional forming process of ceramic powers with in situ polymerization of organics, which provides a new route to the fabrication of porous ceramics with high performance and complex structure.On the basis of the principle of gelcasting process, pore forming mechanisms of porous ceramics prepared by gelcasting combining different pore forming methods and the latest researches are reviewed.The development trends of porous ceramics prepared by gelcasting are proposed in the end.
