Research Progress on Photocatalytic Reduction of Uranium by g-C3N4 Based Materials

Abstract: Photocatalytic technology is considered to have a broad application in the treatment of uranium-containing wastewater. g-C3N4 has become the most studied material of photocatalytic reduction uranium (U(VI)) due to its suitable band structure, excellent stability and optoelectrochemocal properties. In this paper, the advances in research of g-C3N4 based materials in photocatalytic reduction of U(VI) were reviewed. The mechanism of U(VI) removal through photocatalysis, the synthesis technology and the research status of g-C3N4 based photocatalysts were discussed. The practical application challenges of photocatalytic reduction of U(VI) by g-C3N4 based materials were identified and future research orientations were suggested.
