Abstract: Different morphology α-Fe2 O3 nanomaterials were successfully prepared by a facile hydrothermal method with PVP and CTAB as surfactant .The as obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope ( SEM) and magneto-meter ( SQUID-VSM) . The α-Fe2 O3 nanorods and nanocubes can be obtained when used PVP and CTAB as surfactant , respectively , but none-morphology α-Fe2 O3 nanomaterials were synthesized without any surfactant .The results show that the nanorods are 70 nm in diameter and 300 nm in length;the nanocubes are 700 nm in sides. The magnetic investigation shows that the synthesized α-Fe2 O3 nanorod, nanocubes and none-morphology nanomaterials exhibit ferromagnetic property with Mr and Hc 0.07 emu/g, 2300 Oe; 0.2 emu/g, 3600 Oe;0.15 emu/g, 3100 Oe respectively, at room temperature.
