Abstract: A mullite material with silica-rich glass phase has beendeveloped.The influences of two additives on the sinter temperature，microstructure and refractoriness of the material were briefly investigated.Having the high viscosity at high temperature and the low thermal expansion coefficient at low temperature，the silica-rich glass phase in the material is favourable to high temperature properties and thermal shock resistance of the refractories made of the material mentioned above.
