Abstract: The effect of polymer powder (PP) content on the rheological properties and thixotropy of cellulose ether (HPMC) modified cement paste was studied by Anton Paar MCR 302 rheometer. The results show that HPMC modified cement paste with PP behaves as a shear-thinning fluid. When the shear rate is small, the viscosity of cement paste decreases significantly. The higher the content of PP is,the larger the yield stress and viscosity coefficient fitted by Herschel-Bulkey model. Moreover,PP can increase the area of thixotropic hysteresis loop and the structural recovery rate of three-stage thixotropy test. There is a positive linear relationship between yield stress and thixotropic loop area of cement paste incorporating PP and HPMC.
